My Best Friend’s Fetus {2}…

December 9, 2010

It’s been a few months since my initial update on the Peanut, so this second installment is long over-due…

My married bestie and her husband moved into their new home in 2009, and during my first visit I announced that the little room off their bedroom, with the light yellow walls and adorable French doors had to be their future nursery! And I swear… this declaration had little to do with the fact that the room already had a crib in it (a small family heirloom).

Within weeks Aly had the entire house decorated perfectly, but the little room off their bedroom remained empty—just the small antique cradle occupying the space. Not long after moving in, however, they announced that they were ready to start a family. Finally, I breathed a sigh of relief and hoped that soon she would enter her nesting stage and do something fabulous with that vacant nursery.

Well, fabulous doesn’t begin to describe it. The Peanut is now in it’s 25th week—(and I suppose we have to stop calling it Peanut now and perhaps switch over Eggplant or Squash)—and the nursery is coming together beautifully. You know I love Do It Yourself Projects, but I think it is so amazing and special when a gal is creative enough to add something personal to her baby’s room.

Aly did an amazing job painting these gender-neutral owl paintings and putting together this “Family” collage for the nursery. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next (and to see how she finally decides to hang them)…
